Enduro - Nova Scotia
Tri County Trail Bike Enduro
The aim of Enduro-Nova Scotia is to organize and run a very relaxed, low key and enjoyable form of event. Emphasis will
be to select a route that the novice rider will be able to tackle on a fully road legal trail bike without too much difficulty, but
will also appeal to the more experienced rider as well. The counties of Colchester, Pictou and Cumberland have an ideal central
location, provide excellent terrain with great views to ensure a memorable ride.
This is a new form of event for Nova Scotia tailored particularly for “Dualsport” motorcycles, or what otherwise may be referred to as trail bikes. Participants can ride to the event, take part, and then ride home if they choose. But this does make for a long day!
If all goes well, perhaps two or three events could
take place to form a series. Classes for displacement, age (veterans) and possibly teams are some of the ideas which hopefully can
be introduced as experience and popularity is gathered. To begin with, the most likely groups will be dualsport trail bikes
and competition enduro machines. This may change depending on class support,eg. displacement up to 400cc, over 400cc.
Typically, the course will consist of marked trails, cart tracks, logging roads and such forming a large lap of approximately 80km followed by a special test before a second lap of the course. The riders will be given a time card to have their progress verified at stage checks along the route. Checking in early or late will incur penalty points (1 min = 60 points) which will be added to the riders special test time for their total score for the day.
A rider who arrives at a time check more than sixty
minutes after his original starting time for the day’s run, plus the time allowed for travel between each check passed, is automatically
disqualified. Additionally, no outside assistance is permitted and any rider caught receiving help repairing their machine will be
automatically disqualified.
Sometimes route checks are included. They are indicated by a blue flag and are designed to ensure
riders stick to the marked route. Riders must stop in order to have their passage recorded on their card. Any rider who’s passage
is not marked may be disqualified.
The special test is a closed course section of trail incorporated within a stage. Each riders time
to complete the special test is recorded to within 1/1000th second and added to any other penalty points accrued.
